On Friday, at the the Ministry of National Defense (1 Klonowa Street) a meeting of the head of the Ministry of National Defense with the Chairman of the NATO Military Committee took place. The meeting is related to the conference of the NATO Military Committee, the highest military authority of the North Atlantic Alliance, which takes place from 28-30 September 2018 in Warsaw.
During the conversation, Minister Błaszczak drew attention to the process of implementing the decisions of the NATO Summit in Brussels, in particular to the NATO's readiness initiative (the so-called 4x30), which would significantly increase the Alliance's defense capabilities.
Issues related to the presence of allied troops on the eastern flank were also discussed. As emphasized by Minister Błaszczak, the development of collective defense is indeed important for Poland, because the country's security is also based on allied strengthening. One of the topics of the talks was also the initiative to establish permanent US bases in Poland.
During the talks, issues related to the reform of the NATO command structure were raised. As Minister Blaszczak remarked, an efficiently implemented reform will translate into the ability to conduct collective defense in the future.
